The metaphors of thread and fabric can represent spacetime, thought, and interaction. Threads and fabrics are basic to human experience in general and have had a historical connection with destiny in the Greek tradition.  The concept of a woven fabric can represent total interdependence, as the way a single thread navigates through time in potential directions until the needle has embedded it into the texture of the woven past. Understanding how rhetorics of popular physics describe thought and reality using textile metaphors can shed light on the conceptual systems structuring Western discourse traditions.
